Tonight's, sorry I mean this morning's questions are "What time is it too late to be outside with music and talking? When is it too late to be outside with music, and talking in a apartment/townhouse complex?"
Some neighbors are outside talking & playing music which was loud enough to wake up Emily. They started about 8:30-9:00 pm, they waited until I returned home from my walk. Because I went out the back door, so they knew that I was going to go in the same way. One of them was at their kitchen window watching for me. My kids' bedtime is 7:00-8:00 pm, but James wasn't able to fall asleep until around 11:00 pm. He started school yesterday, but is off until September 8. So hopefully this will be settled before he goes back to school.
I went outside and politely asked the neighbors to tone it down at 12:30am, then back inside. They turned down the music after I left. Then started talking again after they thought I was gone. So I hid by my back door (yes, I hid) to hear what they would say. I'm going to clean up what they said. . . "it's not ok for us, but it's ok for her to come out and ***** when her kids scream all night. (That was the main gist of it) This was from the unit to the East of us. They kept going on. It got me very upset.
I went down to talk to some other neighbors (Shantel & Cam) that were still up. Then I talked with the unit (Becky & Sean) on the West of us and asked them if my kids were a problem, if they were up all night screaming. They did mention that they occasionally heard my 6 month old (Matthew) crying in the middle of the night, but that is usually for about 15 minutes, but he's teething and it's understandable.
While I was talking to Shantel & Cam, another neighbor went outside and told them that they needed to be quieter because it's after 1am and she'll call the police. (Btw the music turned off when Shantel went outside, which stopped the interference with her baby moniter.)
Shantel, Becky, Sean and I talked awhile, they suggest that I go back inside and see if I could still hear them. I didn't have to go to the kitchen to be able to hear them. I went back out Shantel, Becky and Sean and told them that I could hear them very well inside my house. They were right outside our back door so its not like they were far way. That is when Cam called the police on them.
By the way Emily is awake again, but is wide awake.
The police are on their way. It sounds like the loud neighbors are maybe stopping for the night. I doubt it. I hope the police get here soon. It's 2:00 AM! Actually they seem to be getting louder.
I now have Emily in my living room watching a movie because they're too loud.
I have my reasons why I don't like the neighbors to the East of us. The others that are outside just moved in last week. This is a great way to start off a new place. I'm so glad that I now know the best way to make neighbors. It is "Let's be loud and inconsiderate of the neighbors. Especially when they have young children!" I would love to have the neighbors to the east of us move out of the unit.
Another unit that I don't even know has gone outside and asked them to keep it down. The police got here just before 3:00 AM and they were still outside going strong. One of the gals started arguing with an officer. The officer's called Cam and told them that if it doesn't stop then they'll get a ticket. I thought there was just 2 units out there, it turned out to be 4 units.
People get a hint, when 4 units ask you to be quiet it's time to move it INSIDE or end for the night. Who gave you the right to do this?
PS. I do have some wonderful neighbors who aren't afraid to go out there, talk to the rude neighbors and then call the police if it doesn't stop. They called the police so it wouldn't appear that I'm out to get them for what they did to us. If we are correct then the police will inform management, but at least 3 of us are going to the office tomorrow morning to talk with them.
They are now in the unit next to me and still going at it. I'm tired and want to go to bed. SHUT UP AND GO TO BED!
I'll keep you updated on what happens in the morning. I'm going to try to get some sleep. It's only after 3:30 AM! I just looked up the Lethbridge Noise Bylaw, and in Residential areas the cut off time for a weekday is 10:00 pm! NOT 3:00 WHEN THE POLICE SHOW UP!
If you haven't noticed that I started this blog BEFORE midnight.
