It was wonderful not having to bring diapers, wipes, vasoline and pads to the hospital. I didn't have to bring any of it with me to the hospital. I love how every newborn gets a handmade hat.
I love how every baby gets a handmade hat to keep.
When it's time for you to leave you take the diapers, vasoline and pads with you. Pretty much anything that is opened. If you don't take it with you then they have to throw it away. So I got to take a a new package of diapers, pads and vasoline.
When Deb came in one of the nights she had a student nurse (Hailey) with her. It was fascinating because I learned a lot. I also got to helped with teach Hailey a few things. Mainly about breastfeeding. On Valentines Day, Deb gave us a white toque with a red heart on it.
Matthew is wearing his new Valentine's hat from Deb. He's snuggled up in one of the blankets that Shirley gave us.
I had a nice talk with Shirley, she asked about Ben's job. I told her about Ben's jobloss because he wouldn't lie. She then told me that she was going to make a care package for me. She later came back with it and told me that there's 5 packages of diapers, wipes, shampoo/wash and blankets. When I looked in it I found 6 packages of Pampers Swaddlers (20 diapers each), wipes, vasoline(5 tubes), Johnson's head-to-toe baby wash (2 bottles), 2 blankets and 13 samples of Lanolin.
Here's our handsome little giant on his other new blanket.
During the wee hours of the night of Saturday/Sunday Shirley came and asked if she could borrow Matthew. I had no problems with it, and let her take him. When she came back she had a wonderful card with her.
How often does the nurse does something as sweet as this?
It was great. She's one of those people who go the extra mile to make someone's day.
Another nurse who took the time to talk to a bored mom. Erin and I had a nice chat. She was the one who also cleaned my incision after it started bleeding again. She made sure that I had extra supplies to take with me.
To these and all of the other nurses at the Chinook Regional Hospital, Thank you very much.
