If you look up the meaning of hobbit I bet you will see a picture of Matthew. The health nurse came on Monday to weigh, measure and all the other stuff. So I was told that they want the average baby to gain an ounce or 20 grams (in a week). Matthew was weighed on Saturday before he was discharged, so from then to Monday he gained 7 oz.
Another health nurse came today to check on us. He was weighed again, and he's now at a whopping 10 lbs 14.2 oz. So from his last weigh in to today he has gained 1 lb 1 oz. The nurse kept telling me there is nothing wrong with a baby gaining a lot of weight at this age. I just looked at my little giant, shook my head and smiled.
I knew that Matthew was a good eater, but I didn't realize how much he's gaining in such a short amount of time. Ben and I don't remember James and Emily gaining weight this fast. So far it is rare for him to spit up a lot. It's only if he empties both breasts.
So we'll see how much he weighs when he's two weeks old! Take a guess at how much you think he'll weigh at two weeks old. I'll let everyone know the next time he's weighed.
